The Simpsons has released a clip from its season 29 premiere, which sees the animated show going full-on Game of Thrones. For nearly 30 years, The Simpsons has thrived on its timely pop culture references. When the show returns tonight with its premiere, titled ‘The Serfsons’, that trend will continue with an episode set in medieval times and references to various fantasy entertainment, including Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings and even Conan the Barbarian. In fact, Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau will even provide his own voice acting talents in a role that’s rumored to be similar to his character Jaime Lannister.
While this isn’t the first time that The Simpsons has made reference to fantasy or Game of Thronesitself (the comedy show once did an entire couch gag parody of Game of Thrones opening credits) but it will be the first entire episode dedicated to the genre. The newest clip provides a nice preview of what to expect from the season 29 premiere.
The clip includes a typical prank between characters Bart Simpson (Nancy Cartwright) and Moe (Hank Azaria), only the means of delivery for the prank has changed from a phone call to letter-by-raven. This is an obvious reference to Game of Thrones heavy use of ravens for message delivery between characters. You can check out the humorous clip above.
